Busy preparing for my Residency at North West University in South Africa…..<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I leave on Saturday 12th July for a 10 day residency… very excited. I’ll be using the University Gallery as a studio, working with staff and students to transform it into a score, with a closing event and performance on Thursday 24th July. Last week I was able to use the gallery as my studio to experiment with ideas in preparation for my residency at North West University, South Africa in July. This was part of the Lincoln School of Design & Architecture (LSDA) staff exhibition and work in progress, Project Space + Gallery, University of Lincoln: an eclectic array of projects, based on our areas of practice and research. It was a great opportunity to see colleagues working on ‘new beginnings, new endings and the stuff inbetween’ – the conversations where inspiring and insightful. Working in a physical space with the materials, texts and ideas enabled me to think more about the body and our relationship to the languages we speak and the sounds that we make as I develop a polylingual score that explores the languages of South Africa. Thinking through \/ practicing materiality \u2013 a dialogue on practice<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Heather and Johanna H\u00e4llsten have been collaborating for the past 6 months to devise a performative essay for ‘Weaving,<\/strong> language, writing: thinking and practicing research-creation<\/strong>\u2019 conference, which took place at the University of Angers, France 11th-13th July 2025. Further information can be found at A Dialogue on Practice<\/a>, further information on the project will be added as it evolves and morphs into different shapes and iterations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
